Exploring a Game

When playing a new game, there are several stages of engagement. At first the player will have to learn the rules, which is possibly frustrating in more complex games such as simulation or strategy games.

After the mechanics of the games are introduced, the player can then start to enjoy the contents. Sometimes there is no introduction, or the introduction is in fact the whole game. Some games also make use of this assumption from gamers to create meta-fictions.

The experience of exploring a new game is a special one, and arguably much different than other types of media or art. The receiver, or the player, gets to experiment with and change the system presented before them.

Games can be really enjoyable in vastly different ways. From storytelling or stress relief, to rivalry with others as in sportsmanship, games can provide complex and intriguing forms of entertainment.
