Creative Randomness

Some masterpieces of art were perfected by random events. Some artists would even argue that randomness is part of the creative process.

To what extent can we distinguish creation from discovery? In the field of computer graphics, for example, you have vector graphics design in one hand, defined by rigorous algorithms. On the other hand, you have glitch art, which embraces the beauty of random bit corruption and distortion.

I do not think there is a clear border between the two, nor is there any benefit in defining one. I do have a love-hate relationship with uncertainty in film photography, that I should to learn to both master and celebrate.
