Keeping Photos
Some of the most rewarding moments in photography: releasing the shutter, watching instant films develop, and rediscovering old photos.
For the latter reason, physical prints are important, as they are less likely to get ignored or discarded by accident. Digital mediums need extra care to prevent total loss, while physical copies will remain within reach, albeit degrading over time.
For archival purposes, I think the most relevant photos should have extra backup, and also an actual print, no matter the quality. This not only adds redundancy, but also makes it trivial to review those photos, which is always a rewarding and refreshing experience, even more so years later the shot.
Remember, photos are more valuable than equipments. When in doubt of a purchase, ask if the gadget in question enables more shutter chance, or relaxes previous constraints. Never leave without a camera.
